DNS Failover and Uptime Monitoring for Websites and Services

Monitor your primary server and automatically route traffic to backup IP addresses when your website, service, or internet connection goes down.

30-Day Free Trial Available HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, TCP, UDP and ping checks Multiple monitoring locations Automatic restore when primary returns

Automatic DNS failover

Move traffic to the next working IP when your primary endpoint fails, then restore traffic after the primary service recovers.

Geographic monitoring checks

Use multiple monitoring locations to reduce false positives and confirm an outage before changing DNS records.

Outage notifications

Notify your contacts when a monitored service fails, including optional messages for your ISP or support provider.

What is DNS Failover?

Our DNS Failover & Systems Monitoring ensures that the moment we detect that your site is unavailable, your traffic will be re-routed to a backup server or page. We can also automatically re-route traffic back to the failed services once they are operational again.

How DNS Failover Works?

Our main monitoring node checks every few minutes as you specified to ensure your primary IP is responding. You can configure our monitoring systems to check if your service is running on either TCP, UDP, SMTP, HTTP, or HTTPS protocols, and on any port you desire. As soon as any of your services fail to respond from our main node. Requests of checking will be sent from at least 3 different geographic monitoring locations. Once your service is detected down, your traffic will automatically be moved to a different IP as you specified. This minimizes the amount of downtime that would result from an outage. If used in conjunction with our System Monitoring service, an email will be sent immediately notifying your contact email address of the outage.

The system will issue a check of your secondary IP to ensure it is responding before traffic is sent there. Multiple IPs can be specified for the failover.

We continue to monitor your primary IP address and will automatically failback appropriately once the IP address is back online based on your monitoring settings.

NOTE: This service is integrated with our DNS system. The DNS Failover feature requires your domain to use our DNS to have the failover function. Otherwise, you can still use the Systems Monitoring Service without Failover functions.

How to Setup DNS Failover?

DNS Failover can be set up on any host (A Records) within your domain's DNS. Within the DNS Failover & Systems Monitoring Control Panel you would define the back up IP address, protocol and port to monitor as well as a notify contact list for system monitoring if you wish. You got the option to customize the notification email if you want to send the email to your ISP directly.
